Tradition is an ode to the great Jewish artist Marc Chagall. I have combined a number of his figures and symbolism to create a work which both resembles his style while emulating the artist’s mystical ambience. The Bride and Groom float across the sky, a fiddler fiddles by their side, with a horse’s head appearing as if the moon. Below is a shteltl in the moonlight, a chupah sharing the foreground space. This ketubah presents the ethereal incased in a mist of potential and dreams.
