Floating Island Ketubah

When a couple falls in love, it is as if they become an island unto themselves—floating in anticipation of their coming nuptials and the life they will build together.

The couple who commissioned this piece had seen my Floating Island paintings and thought it would be a wonderful idea to incorporate the concept into their ketubah.

A shimmering lone island drifts above the text in a clear, blue-dotted sky. White butterflies circle the city—a dreamlike fusion of architectural styles I find beautiful and fascinating. The past comes to life in an island of lush green forests intertwined with a fantastical cityscape, where waterfalls spill over the edges and a bird seems to kiss the space reserved for signatures at the bottom of the ketubah text.
