Two thousand years of history.

Back when i had a few theology courses in university, the story of Jesus interested me very much. The suffering figure, essentially a Jew nailed to the cross by the Romans, spoke into the future to 2000 years of history, leading to the Holocaust.

The line seemed so clear to me, a man, a Jew suffering on the cross out of hate and the Jews of the last century being tormented for simply being Jews, and all that implies. In this work, Jesus's garment is a talit that falls to the ground where it becomes the blue and white striped uniforms worn in the death camps.

The scenes framing the central theme represent the absolute absurdity and sadism in the name of a man who is said to have preached love and forgiveness . Six million did not die of an excess of forgiveness on the part of those who professed to believe in the "King of the Jews."
